I spent this afternoon testing out Miracast screen-mirroring on Moto G (XT1032) running Android 4.4.3 - here are the results:
1) Miracast can be enabled on Stock ROM (if rooted) via build.prop edit. However as already mentioned; internet connection is not available.
2) Streaming of media content to TV is possible via apps such as BubbleUPnP (as mentioned above)without the need for a server. For example; in Palemoon browser I can long-press on a video playing on a website and share viaBubbleUPnPdirectly to TV.
3) After installing aCyanogenModbased Custom ROM - Miracast screen-mirroring is fullyfunctional-Internet connection and screen-mirroringwork simultaneously.
Conclusion:
The Moto G hardware is more than capable of Miracast screen-mirroring and it's absence is entirely down to software reasons. I hope Motorola will properly implement this feature for everyone (including those without root) in the near future.
